SHAKEN NOT STIRRED: St Trinian's star Gemma beat 1,500 girls to the coveted role

A KENT actress has landed a starring role as a Bond girl in the next 007 film.

Gemma Arterton saw off competition from 1,500 girls to win the dream role alongside heart throb Daniel Craig in the latest big-screen outing for the super-spy due out next year.

On hearing the news, the 21-year-old who grew up in Hall Road, Northfleet, and attended Gravesend Grammar School for Girls sent a text to her mother saying: "I got Bond!"

Talented Gemma waltzed up the red carpet in London’s Leicester Square last week for the premiere of her latest film St Trinian's, which was her first leading role after leaving drama school.

The latest James Bond movie is currently in production under the name Bond 22 and producers are keeping very tight-lipped about the plot.

But an insider at Eon Productions said of Gemma: "She has the modern look."
