The 37-year-old from Gravesend was then charged with disrupting a person engaged in a lawful activity

He was remanded in custody and appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Monday, where he pleaded not guilty.

He will stand trial at the same court on April 21.

The internet star was seen on live BBC coverage wearing a green and yellow shirt with his internet nickname on the back, with an arm around Melbourne Storm star Cameron Munster during the national anthem.

The Aussie player said he did not realise the man next to him was a prankster at the time, but security at Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool soon cottoned on to Mr Jarvis.

A police spokesman previously said: “We can confirm that officers have detained a man following an incident at Hill Dickinson Stadium, Liverpool, this afternoon, Saturday, November 1.

"The 37-year-old man from Gravesend, Kent, was detained at around 2.30pm after entering the pitch before the start of the England v Australia rugby league match.

"He has been arrested on suspicion of possession of articles for use in fraud and fraud by false representation, and has been taken to a police station for questioning."

Mr Jarvis made light of the situation in a Facebook post today.

He wrote, alongside pictures of him on the pitch: “How ya going, just making my debut with the kangaroos.

“You would think they would let me play, after all, I can avoid other players like I can security.

“I’ll drop a full video when I get out of this police cell.
