Man handed suspended sentence after carrying knife in Milton Road, Gravesend

A 52-year-old man has avoided jail after being caught with a knife in public by police.

Officers were called to Milton Road in Gravesend last month following reports a man was carrying a bladed weapon.

Zbigniew Winiarski was located and detained in connection with the report five minutes later.

He was later charged on suspicion of carrying a knife in a public place.

Winiarski was released on bail to attend Medway Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday where he was handed a suspended sentence for 24 months and an electronic curfew for two months.

He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a victim surcharge of £128.
