Severe delays on A2 London-bound following eight-car collision near Bluewater

Road users faced long delays on the A2 earlier.

One lane was closed near the Bean interchange for Bluewater, near Gravesend, following a collision involving eight cars.

There were up to four miles of queues
There were up to four miles of queues

There were up to four miles of congestion.

Motorists were advised to add an extra 30 minutes on to their journey.

The accident has since been cleared and the lane has been reopened.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "We were called at 10.39am to reports of a collision involving eight cars on the London-bound carriageway of the A2 near to Bean.

"Officers are currently at the scene awaiting recovery of three cars. No injuries have been reported."
