Macmillan's mobile bus to visit Kent and mark the World's Biggest Coffee Morning at Bluewater Shopping Centre

Free cancer information and support is coming to Kent next week thanks to Macmillan's mobile bus service.

From Tuesday the bus, nicknamed Dougie, will be stopping in Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Swanley and the journey will culminate with the team on board marking the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning at Bluewater Shopping Centre on Friday.

Throughout the week, the mobile service will have cancer information specialists on hand to answer questions and provide information, and the team encourages anyone with worries relating to cancer to stop by.

Organisers said cancer can impact all aspects of life not just people's health and they highlighted issues around the financial impact of cancer as many people face extra costs they hadn't considered beforehand.

Macmillan research shows that on average 83 per cent of people are £570 a month worse off because of a cancer diagnosis. This is often due to being unable to work and having increased costs such as travel to hospital or increased fuel bills.

The bus will park outside the M&S at Bluewater for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise money for the charity.

It's hoped the event will helps raise crucial funds for people living with cancer and brings communities closer together.

M&S is a long-standing supporter of Macmillan Cancer Support and since the partnership started, M&S customers and colleagues have helped to raise more than £13 million for the charity, including £3.5 million in the last year alone.

The money raised helped to fund 65 vital Macmillan professional posts in 2018, bringing essential medical, practical and emotional support to cancer sufferers and their families.
