Man arrested following arson attack in Salem Place, Northfleet

A man has been arrested following a suspected arson attack at a home in Northfleet.

The blaze broke out at a property in Salem Place, at 12.42am this morning and crews had to rescue four people from the building.

Four people were rescued by fire crews before they put out the flames and luckily, no one was injured.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene and crews used high pressured fans to clear the property of smoke and the fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

Det Sgt Matthew Childs said: "We are reviewing all available evidence and have carried out house to house inquiries.

"If anyone thinks they have information that can be of assistance, and they are yet to speak with us, I would encourage them to contact us as soon as possible.

"We would be particularly keen to hear from people who believe they have captured a suspect on privately held CCTV or a doorbell camera."
