Police and ambulances in Milton Road, Gravesend after man assaulted and taken to hospital

A man has been taken to hospital after an assault outside a shop on a busy town centre street.

Police and ambulances were spotted in Gravesend following reports of an attack at about 9.15pm.

Earlier reports the victim was stabbed during the altercation in Milton Road have been dismissed.

The victim did not suffer stab wounds and there have not been any reports to police that a weapon was used.

Workers this morning said they knew few details about the incident.

A nearby shop worker said they had seen "two guys and one kid fighting" on the store's CCTV cameras when they arrived for their shift this morning.

A 45-year-old man from Erith was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody while inquiries continue.

The victim, said to be a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment by paramedics called to the scene.

Police spokesman James Walker said: "Kent Police was called at 9.17pm on Monday, September 28 to a report a man had been assaulted in Milton Road, Gravesend."
