Court told how Dartford man beat up friend in Gravesend before squirting ketchup everywhere

A man beat up his pal before smashing his way back into the flat they shared and squirting ketchup everywhere, a court has heard.

Joe O'Reilly was staying with Stephen Burrluck in West Street, Gravesend, when the pair started rowing.

Medway Magistrates' Court heard how the 29-year-old, now living in St Vincent's Road, Dartford, flew into a rage with Mr Burrluck, punching him repeatedly.

Prosecutor Paul Edwards explained when the victim tried to leave he followed him and continued his assault in the street outside, with his actions caught on CCTV.

Mr Burrluck managed to get away at which point O'Reilly grabbed a brick and smashed a window, clambering in and allegedly overturning a coffee table, smashing ornaments and two clocks and spraying tomato sauce.

He later returned again to collect his belongings.

He will stand trial on September 6 at Medway Magistrates' Court and has been released on conditional bail not to contact the victim or go to his home.
