Man charged over knifepoint robbery in Northfleet

A man suspected of carrying out a knifepoint robbery at a shop in Northfleet has been charged.

A suspect is reported to have entered the Nisa store in London Road at around 2.15pm on Saturday November 9 and jumped over a counter to reach the cash till.

The man is said to have been carrying a knife and is alleged to have made threats to a member of staff, demanding that they open the till.

He is reported to have grabbed a large quantity of cash from the till before fleeing the store.

On Sunday November 10, Marcus Sherriff, 20, was arrested at his home address in Burch Road, Northfleet.

He was later charged with robbery and with possessing a knife in a public place.

He appeared the following day before Medway Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded into custody.

He will next appear at Woolwich Crown Court on December 9.
