Police, paramedics and air ambulance called to Northfleet as two people die within a few yards of each other and just minutes apart

Two people died in separate incidents just yards from one another in the space of a few minutes.

A man collapsed in the street in Northfleet yesterday morning and moments later a second person was taken ill at a nearby GP surgery and despite the efforts of the emergency services, neither could be saved.

Witnesses reported seeing four ambulances and police cars at the Springhead Health centre off Vale Road and the air ambulance landing in a nearby field.

A man had earlier collapsed nearby, in Dover Road, and paramedics were called shortly after 10am.

Ambulance crews and the air ambulance service were called but the man died at the scene.

Crews were later called directly to the GP surgery at Fleet Health Campus after another separate medical incident.

An ambulance service spokesman said a patient attending the surgery was taken ill.

They were given treatment and crews helping at the Dover Road incident were diverted to the surgery but the patient also sadly died at the scene.

Police were called to assist with traffic management during the first incident in Dover Road.
