Gravesend man charged with grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving offences after boy 'deliberately driven into' near Waterton Park

A man has been accused of driving a car deliberately at a boy causing him to suffer serious injuries.

Police launched an investigation after the youngster was hurt and taken to hospital with a leg injury following the incident in Gravesend.

Cameron O'Brien, of Shamrock Road, Gravesend, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The 24-year-old was arrested yesterday and appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court today. He was released on bail under curfew to appear at Woolwich Crown on June 4.

Two 16-year-old boys have also been arrested and questioned in connection with the incident and have both been released on bail until May 15 and May 25 respectively.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in an alleyway between Waterton Avenue and Mark Lane on Sunday, April 25 at about 6pm.

It was reported the victim had been with friends in Waterton Park and was approached by a teenager known to them who made verbal threats before leaving the park.

Two people in a silver Ford Fiesta were reportedly waiting outside Waterton Avenue and made threats before the car is alleged to have been driven into the victim.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses and have urged anyone who might have information about the incident to come forward.
