Man running to grant children's wishes

A man from Northfleet is running 13 miles to raise money for terminally ill children.

On Sunday 6th October Mark James will take part in the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon for Starlight Children’s Foundation, which grants wishes to poorly children.

The 44-year-old freight forwarder is training hard and said: “It’s going really well, although I admit it was tough to begin with.

“I have been sticking to my training programme pretty carefully and I hope this, and the thought of helping Starlight to grant wishes for ill children will be enough to get me round the course.”

Starting and finishing in Hyde Park, the 13.1 mile route runs across four of London’s stunning Royal Parks - Hyde Park, St. James’s Park, Kensington Gardens and Green Park.

Mr James also said that he chose to support Starlight because they help “to bring smiles to seriously and terminally ill children at a time when they have very little else to look forward to”.

He added: “I am delighted to support this charity’s wonderful work.”

The money that Mark raises help Starlight bring fun, laughter and distraction to lots of seriously ill children across the country.
