Nativity Live Christmas event returns to Gravesend town centre

Crowds of families and friends lined the streets to catch a glimpse of some camels as a popular nativity procession returned.

The Christmas story was brought to life as part of a parade through Gravesend town centre on Saturday morning.

Mary, Joseph and their donkey were joined by the three wise men on camels as part of the festive fanfare.

The parade started outside St George’s Church and headed towards the Old Town Hall in the High Street and through St Georges’ shopping centre before finishing with carols and a nativity display on Community Square.

Children were encouraged to adorn either shepherd, star or angel attire as they joined in the festivities.

There was even a special visit from Santa and one of his elves who rode in on a three-wheeled motorbike.

The event was hosted by Churches Together in Gravesham, working in conjunction with Gravesham council.

It forms part of its Christmas Together programme of festive events.

This includes festive table centrepiece and ceramic painting workshops taking place at Gravesham’s new arts hub, located inside the St George’s Art Centre this weekend.
