A person has died after being hit by a train.

The incident happened near Northfleet railway station shortly before 7pm yesterday (February 13).

Emergency services were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

No trains ran between the two stations for several hours while British Transport Police and paramedics attended.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
