People living in a block of flats are fearing the worst after they woke up to a mass emergency response and bloodstained floors and doors.

Police and paramedics arrived at Gravesham Court in Clarence Row, Gravesend, in the early hours.

Resident Viktória Szalai was woken by the noise.

She said: "At 2am I woke up to police car sirens.We heard a helicopter as well.

"Now, at around 9am, there are still a few police cars here.

"I'm not surprised by the police being here but I' m very afraid sometimes."

The 36-year-old has lived in the flats for four years. She said: "I live on the third floor and at 6.30 this morning when I took my son to nursery I saw what I think is blood on one of the building's doors and in the lift.

"They are now starting to clean the floor and two policemen are stood in the doorway."

Police spokesman, James Walker, said: "Police were called to a disturbance at a private address in Clarence Row, Gravesend, at 1.31am on Thursday, February, 18.

"The incident is reported to have involved a group of men and one person.

"A man in his 20s, was taken to a local hospital by South East Coast Ambulance Service. He had sustained an injury to his wrist and head and is in a stable condition.

"Another man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident, and remains in custody as enquiries continue.

"Officers remain at the scene, carrying out enquiries."
