Vandal destroys plant pots outside Gravesend Market

Police are on the hunt for a vandal who smashed plant pots and turned over benches in an early morning rampage.

Staff at the Gravesend Borough Market on High Street arrived to work on Saturday morning to find soil and shattered planters outside of the building.

The culprit also overturned a number of benches before walking away.

Luckily, CCTV outside of the market caught a man in the act and the case has been passed over to the police.

Town Centre Manager Graham Long, said: “On Saturday morning we discovered the vandalism outside the market.

"The terracotta planters had been smashed and the benches turned over.

"Our CCTV shows one male responsible for this at 2am that morning. We have reported this to the police.

“The area was cleaned up by the market team and the market opened as usual for a busy Saturday.”

Police spokesman Steve Knight, said: "Kent Police is investigating a report of criminal damage to plant pots and benches outside a property in High Street, Gravesend, at about 2.10am on Saturday 11 August 2018.

"Officers are carrying out enquiries into the incident and will be reviewing all available CCTV footage."
