Milton Road, Gravesend, closed by police and fire crews due to sinkhole

A main road has been partially closed due to a sinkhole.

Fire crews and police officers have cordoned off Milton Road, in Gravesend, between Cumberland Avenue and Ordnance Road, this afternoon (May 6).

Kent County Council’s (KCC) highways team is also on the scene and dealing with the incident near Creams and Co-Op Funeralcare.

Southern Water is also in attendance and is investigating the sinkhole, which is thought to have appeared at around 1.30pm.

It is not yet known when the road will be reopened, but motorists are being warned to avoid the area.
