Eighteen months of problems with drug dealing, prostitution and anti-social behaviour has led to a property being closed down for three months.

Only a limited number of people are now allowed inside the property in Northfleet after a court order was issued.

Yesterday, officers from Gravesham’s Community Safety Unit applied to Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court for a closure order against the property in Vale Road.

The order was approved and makes it a criminal offence for anyone to enter the property anytime up until February 23, unless they are the landlord or an agent acting on their behalf.

Investigating officers applied for the order after numerous reports of anti-social behaviour were received between May 2020 and November 2021.

During this time, officers have been called to incidents at the property including drug dealing, prostitution, general disturbances and anti-social behaviour.

The behaviour also consisted of the occupant, and their associates, verbally abusing and intimidating various members of the community.

Inspector James Beautridge of Gravesham’s Community Safety Unit said: "The occupant of this address allowed anti-social behaviour to take place inside and outside the house all hours of the day, which had a severe detrimental impact on the community around him.

"Despite multiple warnings and ongoing visits to the property, the occupant refused to change his behaviour and failed to show the most basic level of respect to those around him.

"Often is the case that the actions of one person can affect so many and this is why it was important that we took these steps to ensure that this unacceptable behaviour was unable to continue.

"It is therefore entirely proportionate for the person to be removed from this address, and I hope the community notices an improvement to their daily lives.
