Accident closes Rochester Road, Gravesend

One of the main routes into Gravesend is closed to traffic after an incident.

It is believed a pedestrian was involved in a collision with a vehicle at the island crossing near the entrance from St John's school in Rochester Road.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called.

A spokesman from Kent Police said: "Police were called to a collision between a van and a pedestrian on East Milton Road at 7.45am on Friday, August 19. The pedestrian is being treated by South East Coast Ambulance Service."

Two ambulances and a paramedic car remain at the scene with police.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to release a man from under a van but ambulance crews had already dealt with it by the time they arrived.
