Man taken to hospital after digger accident off A2 at Coldharbour Road and Wrotham Road in Gravesend

A man has been taken to hospital after an industrial accident involving a digger on a busy road off the A2.

Officers were called to the scene in Wrotham Road, Gravesend, off the coastbound slip road, at around 3.20pm.

Fire crews and paramedics also attended and assessed a man who sustained an injury and was taken to a local hospital.

Traffic was seen queuing near the roundabout of Coldharbour Road and Wrotham Road.

At its height, four police cars were in attendance, as well as two fire engines and an ambulance.

The first exit after the A2 slip road was blocked off near where ongoing construction work is taking place.

Officers also cordoned off the road headed towards the Cyclopark.

Officers have now left the scene but the incident is causing long tailbacks onto the A2 and long queues remain on the roundabout near the Tollgate services.

Police say the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.
