A schoolgirl has urged people to alter their habits in the name of climate change after being inspired by Sir David Attenborough.

Summer Harman, aged eight from Northfleet, has now created a leaflet with tips on how people can save the planet from their own home.

Her dad, Matt Harman, 31, said: "She gets really upset by it."

He said after watching the videos she knew she was not alone in trying to save the planet, adding: "I have been showing her Greta Thunberg. She was quite excited about her being a child doing it."

"She liked that she was not the only one trying to change things."

Summer has been inspired by Attenborough's documentaries and is often watching live streams and videos of Extinction Rebellion's demonstrations in London on YouTube.

In her leaflet, Summer outlines reasons why we should be saving the planet.

These include tips on how to save the polar bears affected by glaciers melting, pollution levels and the amount of plastic waste being dumped into the ocean.

Matt continued: "She is really passionate about it."

The family share her passion for the environment and are trying not to drive when they are off work and recycle items as much as possible.

Researching the tips alone, Summer has collated some ways people can change around the house such as reusing water bottles, putting our waste into compost, walking instead of driving, turning off lights and picking up litter and disposing of it correctly.

Summer has taken on her own advice and started walking to school with her mum, Carly Harman, 34 and younger brother instead of driving.

She wants to share her passion for climate change by producing and handing out her leaflet in her local park.
