At its height, eight fire engines, a height vehicle, a bulk water carrier and a drone were at the scene of the fire at the Portlands building.

An investigation was launched shortly after, with detectives completing door-to-door checks and reviewing footage from the area.

Now, they have issued images of two men they would like to speak to who may be able to assist them.

They would also like to speak to the owner of a car seen near the scene at the time.

Anyone who recognises the men or has information or footage that might aid the investigation is asked to contact Kent Police on 01474 366149, quoting 46/186672/25.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that asbestos was found within the debris of the fire, and residents of Factory Road were previously told to “stay inside” with their doors and windows closed.

The UK Health Security Agency has advised that the asbestos is of “no significant health concern” as the fibres are held tightly within the body of cement products and are not readily released into the air during a fire.

Specialist contractors started clearing the debris in the area, and the advice to stay indoors with windows and doors closed was lifted following “reassuring air quality monitoring results” on Wednesday (October 29).

Crews are now completing phase two of the operation at Lawn Primary School, which was closed this week following the incident, and the family hub.

The High Street was closed between the Hot Rod Diner and Lawn Road on Monday (October 27) as there were fears that part of the building could collapse.

It has now been confirmed that a specialist heritage survey has recommended that the chimney on the eastern side of the Grade-II listed property be demolished to the level of the rest of the building.

Work is due to start at 9am tomorrow (November 1) and is expected to be completed by early afternoon.

Measures will be in place to avoid disturbance of the remaining debris on site, including damping down of dust to prevent its spread.
