Man charged and second arrested after Meopham robbery

A second man has been arrested and another charged following a robbery in which newsagent staff were allegedly threatened with a screwdriver.

Robbers struck at a newsagent in Neville Place, Meopham, at around 4.30pm on Tuesday, escaping with a quantity of cash.

Seamus Dyson was arrested on suspicion of the offence yesterday morning and the 19-year-old, of Peall Road in Croydon, has since charged with robbery.

He was also charged with the attempted robbery of a store in Station Road, Groombridge, which also took place on April 2.

Dyson was remanded in custody and appeared today at Medway Magistrates Court - where he was further remanded in custody to next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday May 3.

A 19-year-old man from Brighton has also been arrested on suspicion of both offences, and remains in custody as enquiries continue.
