X Factor contestant Tamera Foster of Gravesend hopes to win place in semi-finals

Tamera Foster has promised to “bring it back” this week, after fluffing her lines for the third time on last weekend's show.

The stylish 16-year-old from Gravesend, got voted through to the final five of X Factor thanks to the Great British public.

In an interview with the Messenger the North West Kent College student said: “I’ve taken the judges comments all into account and it’s made me more determined to work hard and bring it back this week.”

“I just want to say a huge thank you to all those people who believe in me and are picking up the phone to vote.

“I’m so grateful and I want to make them really proud this week.”

On Saturday all the contestants will have two songs to memorise and perform - one of which has been chosen by the public.

Tamera will be singing Rihanna’s We Found Love and The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - which was originally written in the 1950 by Ewan MacColl, but became a massive international hit for Roberta Flack in 1972.

She added: “It is more work but I’m really excited, I love both of the songs so much.

“I’ve been working extremely hard this week to get them right.”

The youngster has a chest infection but has been given antibiotics and she said it will not be affecting her voice on the night.

Last week, the show’s longest-serving judge Louis Walsh said Tamera is “the person with the most potential in this competition to be a worldwide superstar”, but added, “what happened to the words?”.

The show's theme was the 10th anniversary of the X Factor and Tamera sang James Arthur’s ‘Impossible’.

Sporting a new haircut, Tamera failed to deliver a performance as sharp as her fringe.

After two momentary wobbles the youngster regained her composure to get back on track and was saved by viewer’s votes.

To see how Tamera gets on this week tune into ITV at 8pm on Saturday.
