17-year-old boy appears in court charged with murder after altercation in Sackville Road, Dartford

A 17-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with murder after a man was allegedly killed with one punch during an argument at a house in Dartford.

The tearful teenager, who has been in custody since his arrest on Saturday, spoke only to confirm his name and address to the bench at Medway Magistrates' Court this morning.

He cannot be named for legal reasons.

Police were called to reports the man had fallen ill in Sackville Road in Dartford just before midday on Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12.44pm. The incident is believed to have involved a single blow during an argument.

Appearing via video link, the teenager wore a grey jumper and kept his head bowed throughout the 30-minute hearing.

Magistrates released him into the care of Kent County Council until he appears at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and is being handled by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
