Nikola Tokarova, 18, will now appear in court accused of stealing the box from the shop in High Street, on Saturday, November 6.

Police say the Royal British Legion container was reported stolen at about 3pm that afternoon.

Tokarova, of Grosvenor Road, Rotherham, Yorkshire was arrested yesterday.

She has been charged with two counts of theft including an unrelated shoplifting offence allegedly on November 8 at the Boots store in the St George's Centre in Gravesend.

She has been bailed to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court on December 15.

Officers say it is not known how much cash was inside the Poppy Appeal box and allege about £100 worth of make-up was reportedly taken from the Boots store.
