Teenager arrested for possessing knife in Northfleet

A teenager has been arrested for possessing a knife in Northfleet as part of a crackdown on knife crime.

The 16-year-old, who is from the Chatham area, was detained in All Saints Road by plain clothed officers at around 6.05pm on Sunday April 21.

The officers, from the Gravesham Community Policing Team, were on a proactive patrol which was specifically targeting suspected knife carriers and drug dealers.

Following the boy’s detention, a two inch knife is reported to have been seized along with a small quantity of what is suspected to be crack cocaine.

The teenager was charged with possessing a knife blade in a public place and possessing crack cocaine.

He has been bailed to attend Medway Youth Court on Tuesday May 21.
