Traffic held on A2 after crash near Gravesend

A rush-hour motorbike crash on the A2 caused six-mile tailbacks.

The accident, between a car and a motorbike, blocked the road which has now reopened.

There are severe delays and traffic is now backed up for six miles past the M2 Junction 2 to the Medway Viaduct.

One lane was reopened just after 8.30am, and all lanes have since cleared.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to a report of a two-vehicle collision on the Londonbound A2 in Gravesend at around 7.20am.

"Officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service are at the scene of the incident near Tollgate, which involves a car and a motorbike. The motorcyclist has reported an injury".
