KIRSTY MORRIS: lived life to the full

RELATIVES and a head teacher have spoken about the tragic loss of an 11-year-old girl who was killed when she was struck by a van in a country lane.

Kirsty Morris, of Hawkins Avenue, Kings Farm, Gravesend, enjoyed many activities and was playing netball with school friends just hours before she died.

Her grandmother, Sue Donaghue, of Huntley Avenue, Northfleet, said: "She was such a bubbly young girl who was always making jokes and laughing. She lived life to the full. We miss her so much.

"She loved animals especially horses, and often took part in horse riding competitions.

Our family own several horses and she would always be the first to volunteer her help. Her aim was to become a vet.

"If she could do anything for anyone she would. She was just a perfect child. She was extremely mature for her age and knew precisely what she wanted out of life. She didn't deserve this."

Kirsty had only been a pupil at Thamesview School in Gravesend for five weeks but had quickly become popular with both pupils and teachers.

Headteacher Ilir Phillips said: "She had settled in wonderfully and shown herself to be a bright, lively and popular girl. She will be greatly missed by us all."

Kirsty, along with a friend, had been on her way to visit her uncle's home in Steadman Close, Higham, when the tragedy happened on October 12.

An inquest into Kirsty's death has been opened and adjourned. A 23-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been helping police inquiries.
