Gravesham Borough Council (GBC) has promised to repair the damage as soon as possible but sent a stern message to those behind the crime.

A message on social media said: "We will repair it as soon as we can, but we have a message for those who are responsible. This damage is going to cost us around £10,000 to repair. That money will come from your families' council tax and is £10,000 that we now cannot spend on other services supporting you and your families.

"The cost of this anti-social behaviour ultimately comes out of your families' pockets, and you are depriving your neighbours' children of the enjoyment they should be getting from this new equipment."

Cllr Lee Croxton, cabinet member for operational services at the council, added: "We are beyond disappointed. We have installed new play equipment to try and make life better for our local community.

"We hope members of that community are equally angry with the actions of a few among them and will act in a community-spirited way to help us find those responsible."
