Family appeal for help to find missing Northfleet pensioner

Police have issued a new CCTV image of a missing grandmother as her family say they are “worried sick” and are desperately appealing for help to get her home.

Carolyn Groom went missing from her home in Earl Road, Northfleet, just before midnight on Monday (April 7).

The 76-year-old is described as being 5ft with grey, shoulder-length hair.

One of her daughters, who did not wish to be named, said they had heard a bang on Monday evening but put it down to her parents still being awake at the time.

She told KentOnline: “She’d been out all day with her grandchildren before coming home.

“But at about 10.30am the next morning, we realised she had gone.

“She could have gone anywhere between 9.30pm on Monday, she’s just disappeared.

“We don’t know for sure what she is wearing, and she has no coat, purse, bag or phone.

“She’s also got none of her medication with her. She’s very vulnerable and has extreme mental health issues.

“She can present as normal to some people sometimes and make complete sense but not other times.

“She’s been deteriorating both mentally and physically. We’re all worried sick.”

Appealing to her mum directly, she added: “There are a lot of people looking for you and concerned about your welfare.

“We understand you’re in pain, hurting and grieving. It’s not your fault - you don’t need to suffer alone.”

CCTV footage shows Carolyn leaving her home in Perry Street at around 11.45pm on Monday.

She was seen “charging” through the road near Papa Johns.

She was wearing a long grey skirt, a long-sleeved black cardigan, ballet-type shoes and had her hair in a low ponytail.

There was a reported sighting of her at the Esso garage in Perry Street, near her home, at around 4.45pm yesterday.
