Stephanie Bevan, 49, ordered to pay back more than £2K after she let her home in New Ash Green be used to sell cannabis

A woman convicted of drugs offences has been ordered to pay back more than £2,000 under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Stephanie Bevan, 49, was convicted of permitting her house to be used for the supply of cannabis, through joint enterprise with someone else.

Bevan, formerly of Bazes Shaw, New Ash Green, was sentenced over the matter in June at Maidstone Crown Court, and was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.

Following the sentence, Kent Police made an application for a confiscation order under The Proceeds of Crime Act. The legislation is used to claim back money offenders have gained from crime.

At the same court earlier this month, it was determined Bevan, who is now apparently living in Gravesend, had benefited from her criminal conduct to the sum of £2,745.

She was ordered to pay back this amount which is the value of her current assets.

DI Annie Clayton from Kent Police’s serious economic crime unit said: "No one should be allowed to benefit financially from committing crime, and we have again used this legislation to ensure those involved in drug dealing cannot benefit from their illegal activity.

"This should send a message to offenders that once they have been sentenced we will continue to investigate any financial gain they have made from their activities."
