The incident reportedly happened near the Meopham Veterinary Hospital and involved two vehicles.

Police were called at 2.20pm and two fire engines were sent to the scene where a road closure has been put in place.

Firefighters used specialist tools to remove one vehicle door and release an occupant, who was then passed into the care of paramedics.

A woman was later taken to hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be serious.

One mum, who was on the school run at the time, said: "I was literally just in a load of traffic and I asked a pedestrian and she said there has been an accident there and they are trying to cut people out of cars.

"By the time I turned around to go another way a fire engine was on the scene."

Road closures remain in place and drivers are being warned to expect delays in the surrounding areas and use alternative routes where possible.

Kent County Council's highways team posted an update to say it was also called to attend to assist with an oil spillage.
