Voice Talent Online, Gravesend, calls for Kent students to enter $3,000 global scholarship competition

A voiceover company which has worked with stars such as Strictly's Len Goodman, top brands like Google and dubbed popular online games, is giving away cash to help students with their dreams.

Voice Talent Online, based in Bath Street, Gravesend, is offering three scholarships worth $1,000 each for the fourth consecutive year.

The company specializes in voiceovers, video translation and sound design in more than 90 languages.

But the firm is keen to help anyone at college or university, whatever they are studying. The scholarships are open to anyone worldwide, but entries would be particularly welcome from those closer to home.

In a bid to capture the attention of more students, Voice Talent Online gave KentOnline an exclusive pre-release of its work behind the scenes on free solitaire game Ava’s Manor.

It provides a sneak peek of some of the company's voice actors as they perform English dubbing for the game.

The company, which saw an increase in demand for a variety of online voiceovers linked to the pandemic, has had previous winners come from as far as Canada, Turkey and Bangladesh.

However, this year they want to see more students closer to home entering.

Voice Talent Online's chief executive Simon Luckhurst said: “Since we started our scholarship competition four years ago, it has grown bigger and better with applications received from countries worldwide.

"But we have noticed very few entries from the UK, and especially local ones.

"We would really encourage Kent students to enter the scholarship competition and showcase their writing skills as we know Kent has talent."

Students have even more chances to take advantage of the bursary this year as the company has tripled the prize pot available to $3,000.

Simon added: "What initially started as one scholarship of $1,000 to help students with those increasing costs linked to studying has now grown to three scholarships, each worth $1,000."

College and university students can apply by writing a 300-500 word essay on subjects relating to the voiceover industry and posting it online. The deadline is January 31.
