Ebbsfleet boss Josh Wright admitted their National League South clash with Chelmsford was a “proper game”.
The match was played at a frenetic pace, particularly in the first half, in a match more likened to the division above in many ways.
“That was a proper game of football, and that's credit to both teams,” said Wright.
“I thought Chelmsford started the game really strong, and we had to dig our heels in for the first 15 minutes.
“There were different bits and bobs going on, but I thought it was a really good spectacle. I can't say I could stand there enjoying all of it, because obviously I'm in the moment and in the heat of it,
“But anyone watching that for a National League South game would be really impressed. Once we got through that first 15 minutes, it was chance after chance, but they just had the territory, the possession.
“I thought we were really good and, on another night, it could have been a few more, obviously hitting the woodwork three times.
“We just sensed openings and opportunities but I was really pleased with us, it's a fantastic three points, and thoroughly deserved as well.”
Wright was impressed that his team’s athleticism stood up to the test against another full-time outfit in Chelmsford.
“We look fit and athletic, and that's a credit to the players,” said Wright.
“It's a credit in terms of what they've given in the off-season, and in pre-season, and what they're giving every day.
“They look like they're at it all over, they look like a team. There's a moment right at the end of the game, 95th minute, Jake Hessenthaler’s tracking back there to help his team-mate out, and we know he's on a booking, and he's made a recovery run. I'm big on it, recovery runs, getting back into shape and helping each other out. He was on his last legs, but it was fantastic.”
It's three wins from three for the Fleet, who have already beaten Dagenham and Chippenham and are yet to concede a goal.
But Wright is keen to keep level-headed despite a perfect start to the campaign.
“That's three games now, but it's only three games,” stated the Fleet boss. “We have to keep building, we have to stay focused, we have to stay on the right track.
“We have to keep going, because you don't do anything in 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15 games. It’s a whole season, so we have to keep building, we have to keep going in the right direction.
“At the moment it's good, so far so good, and I'm pleased with a lot of stuff, but there's still a lot that we can improve, and a lot that we can keep pushing to go in the right direction again.”
The Fleet restored Kwesi Appiah to the starting line-up after he missed the win over Chippenham.
Wright didn’t feel it was a gamble to bring Appiah back into his side.

“We did everything we had to do in terms of getting Kwesi right,” said Wright.
“It was more of a precaution for him to miss out on Saturday, we knew we had a few games coming up in quick succession.
“We didn't see a risk, but at the same time Kwesi's an experienced player, he felt he was fine. He trained really sharp on Monday because I was watching him closely.
“He looked absolutely fine, so to us there was no risk throughout. It's a frustrating one because it looks like the wrong decision to play him.”
