Ebbsfleet United keeper Nathan Ashmore good enough for the Championship says team-mate Andy Drury

Ebbsfleet goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore has been tipped to play in the Championship.

Ashmore has become one of non-league’s hottest properties since he joined the Fleet from Gosport Borough just over three years ago.

His highlights reel is quite staggering and there will be no shortage of suitors in the summer.

Fleet midfielder Andy Drury said: “I think Ashmore should be playing in the Championship.

“When I was playing in the Championship (for Ipswich), especially training with the keepers I played with there, he’s better than them.

“Some of the saves he makes are out of this world. I’ve not seen keepers make some of the saves he’s made in his career.”

Ashmore’s also proved his mental strength after suffering abuse from the terraces this season.

Drury said: “That’s not good but if he played at a higher level, I don’t think he’d encounter that kind of stuff because they have more stewards, more police and they’re hotter on it.

“You’re more exposed at this level.

“There’s less stewards so fans think they can do what they want.”
