Big crowds flocked to Brands Hatch for the British Superbike Championship over the weekend.

Josh Brookes won both races for the Be Wiser Ducati team while Tommy Bridewell now leads the championship on 145 points.

After a sublime win in race one in challenging conditions, Brookes started second on the grid in race two and led throughout, hotly pursued by Bridewell on the Oxford Racing Ducati.

Brookes' team-mate Scott Redding finished third after starting both races in pole position. A tyre choice gamble in race one cost him dear, but a fastest lap put him on pole again for race two where a podium compensated for the earlier missed points.

The double confirmed Brookes as 'King of Brands' for the third time and also put him in the running for the new £75,000 Integro Summer Triple Crown, a cash prize for any rider who can take six race wins across three rounds.

He said: "It's great to get these little achievements along the way and certainly getting a couple of wins towards that big cash prize is great but I've got to be focused on the championship - that's my main concern, main goal, my main focus.

"I'm championship-orientated so that's why I'm most pleased with the results.

"Everything I tried to do to break away from (Bridewell), he could match it with his speed.

"I was thinking to myself, as long I don't make any mistakes he can't ride faster, he can't physically make something happen different than what we're already doing.

"I did actually make once mistake, but it was a bit earlier in the race and he wasn't able to capitalise on that.

"Fortunate to get the win and bring it home, it was really a tough race and he pushed me to the end.
