Ebbsfleet United striker Michael Cheek joins National League rivals Bromley

The first of Ebbsfleet’s remaining players has left Stonebridge Road with striker Michael Cheek joining Bromley.

Cheek was one of seven contracted players named on Fleet’s retained list when it was announced last Saturday.

But it soon became clear they were open to offers and Cheek has departed for Hayes Lane.

No fee has been mentioned but Ebbsfleet would have been hoping to recoup much of the substantial five-figure sum they paid Dagenham for his services in August 2018.

The 27-year-old finished top scorer with 16 goals from 25 starts, with his final Fleet appearance coming in a 5-1 defeat at Bromley on the last day of the season.

Cheek told the Lillywhites website: “It’s great to be here. It’s an ambitious club and I can’t wait to get going.”

Ebou Adams, Nathan Ashmore, Jack King, Sean Shields, Corey Whitely and Lawrie Wilson are the other Ebbsfleet players under contract.

Fleet boss Hill this week offered to help them find new clubs by the end of the month.
