Loan defender Marvel Ekpiteta returns to Newport County from Ebbsfleet United

Marvel Ekpiteta's second loan spell at Ebbsfleet United has ended after just one friendly appearance.

Ekpiteta joined Ebbsfleet on loan last month in a deal that was due to last until the turn of the year.

But the Fleet announced on Tuesday that Ekpiteta has had his "loan agreement was mutually terminated in order that his parent club could facilitate a permanent transfer to a Vanarama National League club".

The brief statement from Ebbsfleet added: "We wish Marvel all the best with his move."

Ekpiteta was then announced as a new signing by Macclesfield Town.

Relegated from League 2 at the end of last season, Macclesfield have snapped up Ekpiteta on a free transfer after he agreed to terminate his contract with Newport.

Ekpiteta spent much of last season on loan at the Fleet from the League 2 outfit and agreed to return, despite the Fleet dropping down a division to National League South.

He operated mainly as a right-sided centre-back in a three-man defence and also featured at right-back, making 25 appearances and scoring two goals.
