Ebbsfleet boss Kevin Watson could add to squad ahead of Saturday's National League game at home to Wrexham

New faces could be within the Ebbsfleet squad sooner rather than later.

Boss Kevin Watson refused to use reduced numbers as an excuse for the midweek mauling at Barnet but Albie Morgan’s recall by Charlton has left him some room to manoeuvre.

Asked if a new face could arrive by the weekend, Watson responded: “We’ll have to see.

“We’ve only got one loan left that we can have so it will have to be the right loan.

"Then you’re talking about permanent transfers. It will have to be the right player, right position.

“I’ll be speaking to the owner and Dave Archer to see where we’re at with (the budget) but I think there might be (money available).

“There are possibilities to bring people into the club and we need to bring people in, we need to freshen it up.

“I’ve been loyal to these boys but we do need bodies in the building.”

Regardless of any new faces, Watson indicated that there will be changes for Saturday’s home clash with relegation rivals Wrexham.

“What’s been said in the dressing room will remain in the dressing room and whatever team I pick on Saturday I will expect a reaction,” he stated.

“I can’t be too harsh on them because we’ve been doing okay for a team that’s at the bottom but some of our defending and decision making – and that’s not just defenders – was not what I would say was acceptable.

“We’re all in it together. I’ve got a lot of belief in them because of what they’ve done for me in the last few weeks.

“It’s a bit of a reality check to tell us all where we are at the minute.”
