Tottenham Hotspur to send a team to play Ebbsfleet United in a summer friendly

Ebbsfleet United will no longer be playing the Gills this summer but have lined up someone even bigger.

The Gills pulled out of a friendly match with Fleet, a game that was organised for Tuesday, July 23, prior to Steve Evans getting the manager’s job at Priestfield.

Fleet have now arranged a game against a Spurs XI.

A Fleet statement said: “Gillingham have withdrawn from the originally scheduled friendly, with new manager Steve Evans wishing to reduce his side’s number of summer games, the fixture having been arranged before he took the Priestfield job.

“Fleet have filled the gap with the visit of a Tottenham Hotspur XI on Saturday, July 13th with a 3.00pm kick-off.”

Fleet have also lined up home games against Championship side Charlton Athletic (Tuesday, July 16) and Premier League side Brighton, who will be sending an XI to the Kuflink Stadium on Friday, July 26.

Gillingham will be playing Millwall at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Sunday, July 21 and plan to face a number of Kent non-league sides.

They travel to Faversham Town on Tuesday, July 9 and Folkestone four days later.

Games at Dartford (Tuesday, July 16) and Dover (Tuesday, July 23) are planned either side of the Millwall fixture.
