Kreshnic Krasniqi has been struck by the professionalism at Ebbsfleet following his summer move.
The Kosovan midfielder joined Fleet from Kent rivals Maidstone, having first caught Dennis Kutrieb’s eye during the sides’ goalless draw last November.
Full-time training appealed and he likes the way Fleet operate.
He said: “Everyone thinks Maidstone are full-time but it’s three mornings.
“It’s still run professionally, and I was happy there, but Ebbsfleet are full-time.
“It’s as close as possible to a league environment, so you have your food in the morning and after training, and you’ve got your training facilities and the recovery side.
“Being full-time it helps when you can do your recovery and be ready for the next session.”
A bug has delayed Krasniqi’s competitive debut, ruling him out of the sparkling 5-1 win over Tonbridge Angels, while last weekend’s match at Chippenham was postponed following a Covid outbreak in the hosts’ camp.
With Fleet facing two games in three days over the Bank Holiday weekend - Hemel Hempstead at home on Saturday followed by Chelmsford away on Monday - boss Kutrieb may decide to use his squad.
That could mean an opening for Krasniqi, who stuck in the manager’s mind following his impressive display at Stonebridge Road for Maidstone.
“Whenever I get used, I get used, no complaints,” said Krasniqi. “It’s a long season and when my time arrives I’ll be ready but that’s down to the gaffer.
“He believes in his players and he’s not afraid to make changes but we’ll see.
“When I first sat down with him he said he likes how I play, how I read it and that I do both sides of the game - aggression and the way he likes to play with the ball on the floor.
“I was pleased when he said that. It was nice that another manager had recognised my strengths and kept an eye on me.
“He loves my passion - he’s a bit passionate himself, so that’s one thing we’ve got in common.”
Krasniqi’s unflinching commitment makes him a nuisance to play against.
He can rub opponents up the wrong way but if he managed to upset any Fleet players last season, all has been forgiven.
“I’m usually a bit of a clown, aren’t I, but there were a few clowns here already so I was thinking, how do I get involved?” said Krasniqi.
“I’m still the new boy but I think I’ve fitted in well. It’s a really good changing room - one you want to come into and adapt quickly.
“When you come from another team and have played against them, you never know because you don’t want to be too nice in games, especially the way I play.
“I wondered if they would dislike me but all sweet - the boys have been good to me and I’ve fitted straight in.
“We’re looking good but it’s one game at a time - it’s too early to say we’re going to do this or that. We’ll let our football do the talking.
“As long as we produce and play well, hopefully we’ll pick up wins but that’s why football is the best sport in the world - you never know the outcome.”
