Former Ebbsfleet United defender Sam Magri sign for Havant & Waterlooville

Sam Magri has joined Havant & Waterlooville after leaving Ebbsfleet.

The defender's Fleet contract expired on June 30 and it's been confirmed he'll be playing in National League South this season.

Magri, a Malta international, spent two years with Ebbsfleet and came up against Hawks boss Paul Doswell during his time in charge of Sutton.

Magri, 25, joined Ebbsfleet from Dover two years ago with the transfer fee later settled at a tribunal.

He played in every position across the backline and was one of Fleet's most consistent performers under Daryl McMahon and later Garry Hill.

Doswell described Magri as: "one of the best centre-halves in the National League last year and consistently one of the best over the last few seasons."
