Positive signs for Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright in National League defeat at Wealdstone

Ebbsfleet boss Josh Wright was keen to take the positives out of last weekend’s loss at Wealdstone.

The Fleet scored two goals on their travels and could have had more with strong claims for a first-half penalty turned down.

But they were twice pegged back before half-time and ended up losing 4-2 in the National League.

“Obviously, we’ve not scored that many in the last few games, so it’s two goals away from home,” said Wright.

“It could have been more, we could have had another one or two and the boys are front-footed, the boys are wholehearted, everyone’s giving it absolutely everything.

“I can’t fault them, cannot fault that group of players in there again and they deserve some credit.

“They deserve more credit probably than what they’re getting in terms of the points and the results on the back of it.

“There’s a lot of positives to take again, we’ll have to look back at it and debrief it, but scoring two goals away from home is always a positive.”

Franklin Domi, who is being played in a more advanced midfield role in recent matches, got on the scoresheet.

It was only his second goal of the campaign, the first coming in the league defeat at Sutton in September.

“I think he knows that role very well,” said Wright, on the position Domi has been utilised in.

“He knows it well because he can link both, he can link the midfield but he can get forward and he’s got an eye for a goal, he makes some good runs and I’m pleased for him to get his goal.

“I like him in that role, that’s where I see him probably more than anywhere else and I’m pleased for him.

“He’d like to be in the goals more and obviously play more minutes at times, he’s been in and out a little bit throughout the season. He’s played deeper at times but it’s always nice to get on the scoresheet.”
