Ebbsfleet wing-back Charlie Seaman insists he'll block out what he needs to when he faces former club Maidstone.
Seaman left the Stones for fellow National League South side Ebbsfleet at the end of last season and comes up against his old club for the first time tonight (Tuesday) at Stonebridge Road.
It's already an emotionally-charged derby ahead without the added plot twist but Seaman knows he needs to maintain a cool head if the visitors try to wind him up.
"As I've got older, that kind of stuff, I know for a fact that's what's going to be said," admitted Seaman.
"That's always what's said. You play against your old club, they're going to try and wind you up and the fans might be on me.
"I'm a grown man. I can block out what I need to and focus on my game.
"I don't need to listen to outsiders. It's about us, it's not about whoever we're playing.
"I don't care who it is, whether or not I've played for them before or not, it's another game so let's just focus on the game going forward."
Maidstone boss George Elokobi had to undergo a major squad transformation in the summer, much like his Ebbsfleet counterpart Josh Wright.
Seaman knows that Elokobi will have his team well prepared but insists that the Fleet's focus is on their own game.
"Obviously, I was there last year," said Seaman. "It's an exciting game for me, I guess.
"It doesn't really have any difference to me in terms of if I played with them last year or if I didn't. We need to get maximum points and just move on.
"We've got loads of games this month and I think we need to start kicking on in the league and it starts on Tuesday.
"Like our squad, (they've had) a massive overhaul of players. I know they lost on Saturday but they had a few wins in a row before that.
"I know the staff there well, and I know what they do with players, they can improve players well.
"But, like I said, we've just got to do our thing. It's not about them, it's about us. It's not about me, it's not about my time with them last year. It's a derby, two teams against each other, 11 v 11, and we've just got to be a better team."
Seaman was the centre of attention for Ebbsfleet in their FA Cup first-round exit at Grimsby.
The 26-year-old opened the scoring against the League 2 outfit and was then upended in the box - a decision which remarkably didn't result in a penalty.
Seaman chose his words carefully but insisted that he was fouled as he looked to help double his team's lead.
"It's ridiculous, all-day-long a penalty," stated Seaman. "There's going to be no penalty this season that's more stonewall than that.
"I was told that, apparently, I kicked myself. I kicked my own legs after I beat a player.

"If I beat a player, I'm not going to go down when I'm through on goal. If I stay on my feet, I just pass it across the goal and Aaron Cosgrave taps it in.
"I'm not going to say anything about it because I'm not going to get in trouble. Everyone who watches the game knows what decision was made. That's all I'm going to say."
On the red card to Ben Chapman, Seaman added: "I'm not going to talk on the decision because it's not my decision to make. Obviously, the red card doesn't happen if the decision before it is correct.
"We've got to score the penalty if we get it but we're 2-0 up and that red card doesn't happen. We're going to half-time 2-0 up and we've got 11 players on the pitch.
"The way we played throughout the first half, if we go into the second half with 11 men, 2-0 up, I think we win the game comfortably, personally. But, sometimes you need luck and I don't think we got what we needed, to be honest."
