The 34-year-old scored 24 goals for the Wood, placing him second in the division’s scoring charts.

As a teenager, he made five appearances for the Fleet and scored one goal against Woking on his home debut as a substitute in September 2008.

He moved to Peterborough the following month before prolific spells with King’s Lynn Town and Margate, which alerted Football League clubs once again.

Appiah turned down Blackpool to join Crystal Palace in January 2012, where he played six times in the Championship. He also had loan spells at Cambridge United, Notts County and Reading before linking up with AFC Wimbledon in 2017.

After a brief stint in the Indian Super League, Appiah featured for Crawley and Colchester before moving to Boreham Wood.

On signing for Ebbsfleet, he said: “I cherished starting my career here and it was a really important ingredient in coming back.

“I’m extremely proud of that journey because it set me up to be the person I am today and set me on my way.

“Now I’m hoping to achieve a very successful season for the team and the club.

“It’s why I’m driven to score goals and to drive the standards around the club. It’s going to be a really solid group with a good dynamic.”

Appiah becomes the seventh new face at Stonebridge Road this summer with boss Josh Wright already completing deals for Lennon Peake, Jamie Fielding, Jake Hessenthaler, Ronny Nelson, Charlie Seaman and Ben Coker.
