Hopes are high for a new athletics Academy.
Designed for Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12 students, Northfleet Technology College’s athletics Academy, led by international athlete Corey De’Ath, focuses on distance running while providing the tools and environment to balance high-level training with academic success.
It was officially unveiled at an open evening on Monday ahead of the launch in September.
Athletes who join will benefit from strength and conditioning sessions with expert trainers, physio support and access to state-of-the-art facilities.
Tonbridge AC’s De’Ath, an England international, brings a wealth of experience.
He understands first hand the importance of the right support in an athlete’s journey and said: “We’re here to collaborate with personal coaches and provide athletes with opportunities they may not otherwise have access to.
“Our focus is on aiding development - not replacing existing relationships.
“The goal is to provide the tools and resources for athletes to achieve their full potential in both sport and academics.”
Northfleet Technology College’s new Academy also plans to invite feeder primary schools to events and create opportunities for younger pupils.
