Myles Weston leaves Ebbsfleet United after his contract is cancelled by mutual consent

Myles Weston has left Ebbsfleet United, the club has announced.

Weston has been injured since the end of 2019 and was expected to be a key figure for the Fleet in their battle against relegation on his return during the last three months of the season.

But, in a surprise move, the Fleet stated on Wednesday that Weston has left "for personal reasons".

Weston joined Ebbsfleet in 2017 from Wycombe and scored 13 times in 122 games.

His best form came in the first half of this season when he was clearly Ebbsfleet's best player but he was injured during the home defeat to Dover in December and hasn't featured since.

Earlier this week, Ebbsfleet boss Kevin Watson spoke about a setback Weston suffered in training following a hamstring injury, when he damaged his groin.

Watson said: "I’m not sure how long it will be. Calum (Green, physio) gives me updates every day.

"It’s a little bit sore still, he can’t strike a ball with his right foot. He is a big miss for us at the minute."
