New planning applications in Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable include 40 new camping pitches

New planning applications include adding new pitches to a popular campsite and bulldozing a four-bedroom house to make way for two smaller ones.

The site currently has permission for 40 tent pitches and five traditional wagons, which can be occupied during the period of April 1 and October 31 each year.

Other bids around Canterbury include a dormer, rear extension, and garage conversion into a home office in St Augustine’s Road, a single-storey rear and first-floor extension in Mandeville Road and a replacement building for a car body workshop on New House Lane, Thanington.

Whitstable sees proposals for two detached two-storey dwellings in Grimthorpe Avenue, following the demolition of an existing property.

A proposal for a two-storey detached outbuilding as ancillary accommodation and a fourth-floor extension in Oxford Street to create a new residence has also been submitted.

Several smaller schemes involve rear and side extensions, porch alterations, and window replacements in Maydowns Road, Chestfield; Bolts Hill, Chartham; Mortimer Street, Herne Bay; Seymour Avenue and Medina Avenue in Whitstable.

Developers at the 300-home Grasmere Gardens development - in progress in Chestfield - are seeking permission to adjust the location of a previously approved overspill car park.

All applications are currently awaiting decision from Canterbury City Council, with planners set to consider design, heritage, and community impact before any approvals or refusals are issued.
