Canterbury City Council tracks down Herne Bay High Street fly-tippers after search

Brazen fly-tippers caught on CCTV dumping a sofa and bed frame in a town centre have already been tracked down.

Footage released yesterday showing the four men carrying the furniture in the middle of Herne Bay, before leaving the items in High Street.

The video released by Canterbury City Council showed two of the suspects smiling as they left the scene at about 10.45pm on Monday, November 30.

And after launching an appeal - which was shared widely by KentOnline - to find them, the local authority says it has identified the offenders.

A spokesman said: "We recently shared CCTV footage of some flytipping in Herne Bay and were appealing for information.

"Thank you to everyone who has been in touch.

"Our investigations are drawing to a rapid conclusion and we are in the process of taking appropriate action.

"In light of this, it would be wrong to comment any further at this stage."
